Does a faster processor mean a correspondingly faster boot time ? What is the relation ?
I would have thought the boot time mainly depends on the HDD

It pretty much depends on the amount of ram, the hard drive speed, and the condition of the OS (amount of things on startup, how fragmented it is).
While a stronger cpu might reduce the bootup by a couple seconds, the 3 things mentioned before contribute a lot more, and can mean the difference between a 30 second boot and a 3 minute boot. -
At least on my old PIII more RAM meant slower boot because it checked Ram stability, more means more time.
