Both sustained data transfer times, and acces times ?

Comparison between MTRON 32GB SSD and Seagate Momentus 7200.2 160GB from Anandtech.

SSD: "sustained transfer rate of 90.5 MB/sec with a burst rate of 97 MB/sec and a outstanding access time of 0.1ms or lower"
Seagate: "sustained transfer rate of 49.2 MB/sec, burst rate of 123.7 MB/sec, and random access speed of 14.8ms".

For the price of one SSD you can get another laptop. It's like 900 bucks for the MTRON.

So you'd gotta sell the first laptop to get the SSD for the second one. You'd eventually have a bunch of SSDs with no laptops and no shirt on your back. :p

Yeaah, I'm not getting an SSD drive now, but someting to look forward to in 2009.
That 0.1ms access time sure looks tempting !

The 64GB HDD's are nice but I'll personally wait for 128GB before I make the leap. I would also like to see the SSD's totally saturate the SATA150 or SATA300 if possible. :)

    That sucks !!!!

My Dothan 2Gz processor, 5400 rpm drive boots into XP, I enter password, log in --- the entire thing takes 45-50 secs to complete

    well theres alot of factors,
    1) how long is that post screen
    2) how fast he/you can type the password
    3) what programs are booted up during startup
    4) what OS, he's using Vista I think
