    I was thinking how much laptop uses electricity per hour/ year? I looked one electricity company website and there was said that average using laptop one hour will costs 0.005€.
    Is that truth? Im just curious

    Depends on the laptop depends on what you're doing... power draw can go all from 3-4W for an idling ultrabook to 300W+ for a top-spec gaming laptop going all out.

    But assume you have a fairly average, fairly modern notebook doing fairly average things... you'll probably be drawing about 10W, so 10WHr every hour.

    Here in California, electricity costs about 15 cents per 1000WHr, so running your 10W laptop for an hour will indeed cost just a fraction of a cent... 0.15 cents.

    Gaming on that 300W machine would correspondingly cost 4.5 cents an hour.

    You can always look to buy one of those power meters and hook that up to your laptop for one year and you can get a average usage meter and that also will be a better measure of your power usage as well. Anything we tell you here can vary from Country to Country and what kind a power grid they have in place and how efficient it is in delivering power.

    I know there is many variables. All came clear from Commander Wolf post, thank you for that. And for you StormJumper I could do it but do I want to do it. I don know :).

    If you have a laptop, just look at the ac adaptor. Take the output voltage and multiply it by the amps to get wattage. That will show the max wattage the notebook can use.

    The AC adapter will only tell what it's maximum output is, not what the laptop is currently drawing. OEMs always give some headroom for AC adapters so they don't explode near the maximum. You'll need a Kill-a-Watt or similar device to figure out the exact power draw.

    NP, As I mentioned that is the only real way to know how much power it is drawing and doesn't have to be a year a month or each billing cycle and you can tell with the meter attached the laptop will give you a good picture of what your average power draw will be. But unless your a gamer laptop or CRT off the shelf laptop probably won't take as big a bite of your bills as your Furnace, A/C or house lights overtime will use more.

    It's miniscule. Really. Unless you're looking to shave pennies off your electric bill, don't worry about it. Even gaming laptops idle/run basic tasks at < 30W. So even 30W at 24/7 at avg $0.15 per kWHr, that's 0.72 WHr/day*0.15 = $0.108 per day or ~ $3.24 per month. Sure throw in 40 hours / month gaming at 200W: 200*40 = 8000 WHr = 8 KWhr * $0.15/kWHr = $1.20. So ~ $3.24 + $1.20 = $4.44 per month

    $0.15/kWHr is pretty expensive actually, and typical laptops will run probably half the power profile, even mid-range gaming laptops like mine, and it's likely not running 24/7 only half that at most. So you're looking at more realistically less than $2.00/ month with frequent use.

    I'd say 50-60 watts per hour in normal operation for a 15 incher (screen on at high brightness, browser open with many tabs or a movie playing, Wifi enabled, hard drive spinning) is a good estimate.

    Less than 15 watts with screen off and no apps running.

    Gaming will raise that to 80-110 watts and much higher for gaming laptops...
