    Eg., T9550 ?
I gather the TDP rating is not the same as power consumed by the CPU.

Also, of that power consumed, how much power is consumed by the L2 cache ?

I'm skeptical of the idle figure. I've got a P8400 and my entire machine draws under 10W at idle. Granted that's a P8400, but I don't think the T9550 idle draw is going to be much more. It's in the realm of 40W to 50W at full processor load (without undervolting), so I don't think the load figure is totally inaccurate, though.

It's hard to tell how much of that power is consumed by the cache: you'll have to find a 3MB L2 C2D and a 6MB L2 C2D, set them in similar systems at the same voltages and clockspeeds and measure the power consumption. Dunno if anyone has tried it yet...

I doubt the cache would make much difference, but I have yet to see any tests that prove it or otherwise.
