An interesting read. I'd never let a laptop out of my sight while traveling, unless it's behind some well-locked... thing.

Interesting. I always bring my laptop with me when I travel. I just got myself a backpack for my 17" notebook to make it easier.

Well, those steps seem quite obvious, but still an interesting read.

The part about the X-Ray scanner is scary. It's like they could just be shopping every time the screen shows what contents of your luggage and if they want something that bad, you'll never know who took it.

I use a padded laptop-sleeve (crumpler) and the Messenger bag that came with my laptop. Keeps it protected enough when going to school and such.

This is a very information-packed article, but I have one burning question: Why would anybody choose to stow his or her laptop in a check-in bag? I pretty much everyone kept it in their carry-on luggage.

This was a very interesting article. I would just pack my laptop in a carry-on bag or I should say a backpack or laptop case and keep it with me at all times. There are dishonest persons everywhere and they will take advantage of any situation that arises at the opportune time.

I came here to say the exact same thing. The most "expensive" electronic item that I have packed in my checked luggage has been my Ipod charger. I haven't heard per se of anyone losing electronic items in their checked in baggage but I don't want to the first one to experience it.

I think it's okay to pack it in a padded sleeve with the baggage you bring on board with you right? ;/ I bought a bag and everything, but then I realized I'd have to give up one of my suitcases so I'm not sure what to do.

I am always tacking all my electronical equipment with me when Iam travelling. Especially if travelling by plane which is sometimes driving the custom officials crazy (the worst was 2 big boxes filled with a hill on top at X-Ray check up). :D

That's a nice article, I am travelling tomorrow with two laptops and I just bought a backpack big enough to fit both of them. Never going to put my 3000$ m15x in my suitcase.

The sad part is, even though these facts may SEEM obvious, there are still SOO many people that don't take the proper precautions against theft and damage.
