I'm trying to decide on what I want on my Inspiron E1505. Now, if I get the T5300, it'll save me 150, plus it will save me an additional $50 because I won't need the 667mhz ram.

So how big of a difference, performance wise, is it?

I plan on doing things like photoshop, some 3d editing, lots of movie watching as well as burning dvds/cds. I also plan on purchasing a TV tuner and recording shows, which might be the most demanding thing I will do. I also intend to play some games, but nothing too graphically intense and I also don't mind scaling down the settings if it allows me to play in the end.

Well the T7200 will help when rendering effects and filters in photoshop.

Otherwise I do not think you will notice much of a difference although I do recommend that you select the T7200 because it is a nice price/performance ration.

I had the same dilemma when purchasing T5600. I am glad I took T5600.

$200 total savings is quite a bit. the difference may not be great but the t7200 will obviously handle your image related applications more quicker but the difference may be just a few seconds really.

it is up to you in the end, if those few seconds mean a lot to you then get the t7200. if the savings mean more, get the t5300, both choices will be fine

The T5300 would almost certainly run a 667Mhz FSB with clockgen.

Just get the T7200 and stick with 533 Mhz ram, trust me I have that setup and she runs pretty damn fast. Also remember, the T7xxx series have 4MB L2 cache which helps. I don't think I would've been happy with the T5xxx series as much. I also do PS stuff, burning DVD/CDs, surfing, documents..etc.

Ram can always be upgraded, CPU's cant.

I think you should spend the money and get the T7200 and not be sorry you didnt in the future. Plus, it will future proof your laptop even more. Its a good investment.

Personally though, if you are looking for good performance and reliability I would not go with the Dell. After a few months the thing will be squeaking and creaking. Unless you have a big discount with Dell, I would look into the new HP lineup.
