i've just added 1 GB of ram to my thinkpad T43 which originally had 256 mb ram. There is a significant improvement in performance, everyday windows usage has improved by a great deal. no more tapping on the mouse in frustration, waiting for things to load, for now. Yet to test it with extensive tabbed surfing + photoshop + video + Bittorrent

My question is, now that I've done the upgrade, what do I have to do software wise to "maximize" this upgrade? How can I tweak this notebook so that I'm using my resources wisely? Do I have to do something to pagefile?

Any suggestions would be gladly appreciated.

    Cheers

In a word, no. The major advantage regarding the pagefile is that it's usage will be significantly decreased. From experience I prefer to put my pagefile on a seperate dedicated partition and ensure that it's size is set as 1.5* the amount of onboard memory eg. 1Gb of RAM = 1.5GB pagefile this just means that windows should never complain about it's size.
