Hi,
I am using DELL LATITUDE D410 and i check everywhere in the internet(including notebookreview) for the maximum capacity my laptop able to support. currently it is 40gb.
Q1:
so far i have seen ppl selling in ebay for 120gb for latitude d410. izit the maximum? how do i check?
Q2:
if my laptop really able to support up to 120gb and i brought 160gb, will it work on partition 120gb with 40gb wasted?
thank you in advance.

The notebook doesn't have a limit as far as the hard drive size is concerned. Some older computers had a 48 bit addressing limit, but yours is fairly recent. Here are the drives you can use:

hi abtnet,
are you saying that there are no maximum limit for laptop harddisk cap? meaning i can insert one 160gb and it will run fine?

Yep as long as you get the right interface, those on that page, it will work.

Your system should have no problem reading all 160Gb of the drive.
I personally recommend getting the Samsung HM160HC (160gb 5400rpm) drive or the Western Digital WD2500BEVE. They are the fastest and second fastest drives respectively for the ATA/IDE/PATA interface.
You may want to check out my review of the Samsung HM160HC drive:

You should be able to get the Samsung drive for about $55 on zipzoomfly / lagoom / other sites

You can get the WD2500BEVE drive for $80

If your system only recognizes 137Gb due to 48bit LBA limitation you can always partition the drive into a 137Gb partition and a 23Gb partition.
