Today I just recieved a new internal 100GB Seagate hard drive. It is to replace the 40GB I currently use. But I compared it to the old Fujitsu drive, and it is missing something that can connect it to the laptop. Where can I find this connector piece?

    New Drive:

    100GB Seagate Momentus 2.5" HD
    Ultra Ata/100

Old Drive (came with the computer):

Why don't you just take the adapter off of the older 40GB drive?

x2 to commander wolf's comment. I tried replacing the hard disk and DVD-ROM in my old HP ze4281 and they both had adapters which had to be swapped over to the new drives.

I tried doing that, but it seemed like it was placed firmly on the drive. To do it I have to unscrew 6 screws on the drive.

You should honestly just be able to pull that sucker off. I've got nearly identical connectors on some Dells... and they come right off. Try to rock it back and forth or see if you can wedge something under one of the sides. Unless it's glued to the pins, there's no reason you should be having any trouble.

Same connectors as old Dells laptops have. Take a small flat screw driver and pry it apart. It comes off easy.

Yep I can confirm the pulling off part. I had the same issue. It actually seems like it's stuck there. But you can pull it off. Try to pry it off one side and then insert a screwdriver to get more leverage.

It worked but trying to install Vista I got error 80300002. XP could not install either because it couldn't format the drive and in Gparted live cd I could not do anything with the drive? What is wrong?
