On my wife's Dell Vostro 5470, I have Windows installed on the main HDD and have setup the BIOS to Intel Smart Response Technology but after installing IRST and rebooting, under performance, I don't see the option to accelerate where I would select the mSATA SSD to be used for this.
Her laptop comes with a Kingston 32GB mSATA SSD that was initially configured for caching
I tried the IRST driver on the Dell website under her service tag then tried the latest IRST driver but no luck.
I remember in my Alienware 18 I had to setup the mSATA as a caching device in the IRST meu in the BIOS but this laptop doesn't have that menu.
What shall I do? I even tried wiping the mSATA disk completely using DISKPART but no luck, then I tried creating a partition but still no luck, I don't see the accelerate option under the performance tab in IRST

I would say don't do it though...
Be nice to your wife (and yourself) - get her a nice/big SSD instead.Starlight5, bennni and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

You may be right, but it seems to work for some.
Either way, Win10 is the future and an SSD caching drive is long in the past...
Intel wants us to be using Optane in a few months - not a 32GB mSATA SSD that mere HDD's can outpace.

I'm sorry if the reply doesn't answer your question but I have to agree with others here... It's just mean leaving her with a hdd for OS drive... Caching or no caching... She will be so much happier with a mediocre ssd. It's Christmas after all

Is write caching enabled for the SSD in Device Manager? If not, then check the effect of enabling it.
My Dell E7450 has IRST without any acceleration option but the write caching is enabled in Device Manager.
