Go to the Control Panel and look for the Synaptics/Mouse options. There should also be a synaptics icon in your system tray.

    Should look like this

i dont have those options, when i go into the mouse options, all i have is
basic options, buttons, mouse, pointer, synaptics device settings...
in the synaptics device settings it has almost no options......only about tray icons and enabling and disabling the touchpad

I registered just to tell you I had to disable the palm detection on my HP G7-1075dx. It was also driving me crazy but your tip set me on the right track thanks.
