My HP EliteBook 820 G4 is going to be shipped from HP with just 1x 4gb DDR4 2133 so I can upgrade it aftermarket later. There are two slots, and I'd like to stick 16gb in each of them. But how do I know which is the maximum RAM speed supported by the motherboard? I've seen 16gb sticks that are 2133, 2400, 2666, 2800, and 3000.
Thanks

i7-7500u can support DDR4-2133, LPDDR3-1866, DDR3L-1600

If I'm not mistaken, in newer revisions of Intel based hardware, the amount of supported RAM is controlled by the CPU.
So, you'd need to base your RAM capacity and speeds based on what your CPU supports.
Both can an usually be ascertained through Intel's own website. -
Hm. Thanks. Looks like all the processors offered by this system only support up to DDR4-2133.
How to find out max RAM speed supported my motherboard?
