Ok, so my boss just got a new laptop to replace his old one and the problem with the old one is that everything works fine, but to see anything on the screen, you have to push on the back of the lid.

Does anyone know what the problem would be or how to fix it?

    Thanks so much.

EDIT: Also, you can kinda see the desktop, but it is VERY dark, and yes I tried turning up the brightness.. ;)

I'm 95% sure that it's a backlight problem.I think you have to ship it back to the support to get it fixed.

I would not entrust it to them, the warranty would be voided that way (Or they would ship it directly to Lenovo)

Often the cause of the backlight going off is the inverter (which makes the voltage to power the light) has died. This part costs maybe $20 but the challenge is to get at it to make the replacement.

If the computer is out of warranty then you can ask your local computer repair shop for their diagnosis and estimated repair cost. If this is too much then you can still use the computer with an external monitor.
