    Hi guys!

    My first post in here...

I have a Dell Latitude D830 and a Dell 3008WFP 30" monitor. Unfortunately the D830 only comes with a VGA output, with maximum 1920x1200 resolution.

How can i get that delicious full 2560x1200 resolution? Is there a docking station with Display Port or dual DVI, external GFXcard or anything i can acquire to make my dream setup come true??

Thanks for any advice / help on the situation :)

I think the video card is capable of dual-link DVI when you get the docking station for the D830.

I am not sure if your laptop is able to go to that high of a resolution.
Have you went into display properties, and selected the blue box with the "2" in it? From there you can adjust the resolution on the screen.

I just bought a dell 24" monitor, and when you just plug it in, you can only get the resolution your laptop uses. After I installed the dell driver for the screen, I was able to push the resolution to 1920x1200, which is the max for my screen.
Try installing the dell drivers, and see if that gets you any further.

That resolution is the maximum for VGA. DVI's maximum is 1920x1200, and dual-link DVI's maximum is 2560x1600.

Your best (only) shot is to use the docking station to see if the D830 has dual-link capability. The dock is just a pass-thru, so it all depends on the laptop.

Actually, you're wrong Greg. If it's a dedicated GPU, it will cut it. The question is, has Dell enabled all the links in the DVI port.

Loads of guessing here, and no real hands-on experience so far.

Anyone have any news about Dual-link docs ?

Anyway i digged up this external solution:

    http://www.villagetronic.com/vidock/index.html

It's supposed to give you 2560x1200. Anyone heard of this solution ?
