The laptop only has 2xSODIMMs now under the support page it says this:

"Support for up to 4096 MB* of memory is available (with the installation of optional DDR2 SDRAM memory kits). Both memory slots are user accessible. Please refer to the Hardware and Software Guide for installation procedures. Maximized dual-channel performance requires SODIMMs of the same size and speed in both memory slots."

I have been unable to find 2048 MB RAM for laptops so am I missing somthing or are they just saying that it is possible once the ram comes out.

What laptop are you looking at exactly, I looked up your model and it was specific enough.

The RAM is avaliable, but should be about $1000~(Last I checked was $2500 but that was last month) per stick.

edit: Oooh, its now $737 per 2gb stick now!
