you need ram. period. absolutely. 100%.

there's no way you can run XP AND sql server 2000 with only 256 megs of RAM

you can't even really run XP by itself without at least 512.

why don't you want to upgrade RAM?

trust me, your computer is slow because you don't have nearly enough RAM just to run XP let alone resource intensive apps like sql server.

why would you have these applications that cost a lot of money and yet not have the correct amount of RAM?

Indeed, upgrading the RAM improved the performance. When I got my notebook, it came with 256 MB. It took quite a while to load the program, until I upgrade to 1 GB, that is huge difference in performance.

yes indeed, I didn't see that attached file!

The RAM upgrade would be a worthy investment. Also, what speed is your HDD. That might be a bottleneck, restricting the performance of the RAM.

And yup, you are correct, Lil Mayz. This person's hard drive is 4,200 RPM, Travelstar 4K120 HTS421240H9AT00. If you have the money, we suggest that you upgrade to either 5,400 RPM or 7,200 RPM, improve the performance as well. REMEMBER ITS NOT JUST THE CPU IS DOING ALL OF THE WORK. The rest of system compoents are working together.

    1) GET MORE RAM!!
    2) Upgrade HD speed to 7200 rpm
    3) Then look at programs like Tweak XP and SpeedXP and use the Tweak Guides @ www.tweaktown.com
