Hello. Can some one provide a step by step procedure on how to install a Samsung Series 830 SSD into a laptop? And what I mean by "step by step", I want to know when and how to install the software. When and how to use the USB cables for the SSD. Thank you!

    Moved to SSD forum.

I'll start with this: RTM -> Read the Manual :p

If you want to migrate your windows install to the SSD, plug the SSD through USB, start the software and migrate away. Once that is done, make sure TRIM is enabled and disable automatic defragmentation. No need to touch superfetch, indexing and the rest unless you want to.

The other option is the clean install, that is what dr.pratik suggested. Pop the windows install disc in, install windows, install your drivers, your apps and move your personal data onto the SSD.

Is the 830 going to be the only hard drive in the computer or are you running another hard drive with it?

The SSD will be installed inside the laptop. And then I'm gonna have an external hard drive for music, pictures, movies, and etc.

Questions. When you "migrate" it means it's gonna copy everything inside the HDD and transfer it to the SSD or does it delete everything inside the HDD after it's transfered? Also, does this mean I should get rid off all bloatware and then transfer everything to my SSD?

Yes, everything will be cloned as your HDD and no it won't delete anything from your HDD. Yes, you can delete or uninstall any bloatware you don't want to be transferred to your SSD.
