is there any trick to maintain a fullscreen on the extended monitor of my laptop. i want to be able to watch online things (hulu, nba boardband, justin.tv, youtube..... etc) and have it be in fullscreen version on the extended monitor.

it works right now, ofcourse, but as soon as i click on something in the main screen, the video goes back to its original size.

i basically watch basketball or shows when i'm surfing the net, any thoughts?

I had this problem as well. I believe what I did to fix it was to make the extended monitor the "primary" monitor. Of course, that brought it's own small set of issues, but it depends on what you want/need most!

Surely there is a better way...?

I just use the popout feature for justin.tv and maximize it. For something like youtube... I zoom in.

I also move my window as high as it can go so the minimize restore exit boxes are hidden away off screen.

Not really a fix, but that's the best work around I could come up with (>.<)"

yeah, but i know how to get a full screen on the extended monitor
i dont know how to keep it.

if i do what you suggest, it will un-maximize when i start clicking on the primary monitor. is there a way for the computer not to revert when your extended monitor is in full screen.

this principle even applies to a dvd, vlc, wmp, or gome window (but those are easy to solve) where it goes OUT OF full screen mode when i click on anything

No, I think you miss understood. I'm not using full screen mode on my extended monitor. I click "restore down" button left of the "X" at top right hand corner, then I resize the window to take up the full screen. Also drag the window as high as you can to hide the top of the window (maximize viewable space :) ).

thank you for your repeated help,

    however,
my question still stands. look for help maintaining a FULL SCREEN.
i know what you speak of. and yes, like i mentioned that does work for wmp, gom, (hulu to, i found)

but there is a reason i listed nba broadband, justiin.tv, etc and that reason would be these feeds dont allow adjusting window size, it simply is ONE size, with the option to go to full screen. (if it helps, think mlb.tv baseball feeds). anyways they are feeds on a web browser, you cant change window screen.

I really want to get a 22-23 inch monitor for my laptop to use as an extended monitor to watch sports (also movies, shows, poker etc). If I can't maintain a full screen, it like of criples the benefits of getting a really nice screen

does anyone else have a solution? maybe some sort of small software???

I did a little looking around, and didn't see anything. The only way I've been able to do that is through making the external monitor the primary monitor.

I use display fusion on my multi monitor setup, its a great application.

I would give it a shot if you use multi monitor often. If its just for this movie issue, I am willing to bet it can be remedied by just using a different player.

If you say have a firefox window full screened on the extended monitor and then click back on your primary does it also minimize? if not then it shows its not a desktop composition issue but a player priority issue.

    Two really good players:

1.) VLC - Been using this of the late, I like how it can play .iso dvd rips directly

2.) MPC (Media Player Classic) - the one I usually use its fast, good, has all my options I like.

CCCP - (Combined Community Codec Package) this is a single download that will install every codec you need and install MPC for you, its great I always use it.

Now one more question, are you using your monitors in extended mode or span mode? Extended each monitor still acts independently with its own resolution, in Span mode all the monitors work together as one single monitor.

If your in Span mode it would be normal for your player to minimize when you click somewhere else or atleast lose priority as the top window, using it in windowed mode instead of full screen would fix this as long as you do not have another window behind it that may take top window priority.
