Hey I looked at the battery guide thing on this forum; however, I really couldn't make sense of exactly what he was talking about. (not to good with these things...) It will be helpful if someone can explain how to make the battery last the longest. Thanks.

battery last the longest as in try to squeeze as much life out of one charge, or try to make the battery last for more years?

    the main thing is
    1) heat
    2) battery cycles

keep the battery away from excessive heat, and don't keep recharging it when you d/c the adapter (eg don't keep recharging it wh en it hits 90%.. wait for it to go lower before recharging it

I would say that it depends on what you're working on with the laptop. If you're doing something fun or something that doesn't require saving data, then I'd say take the battery out.

But if you're doing work or anything that you wouldn't want lost if the power suddenly went out, then keep the battery in.

    Undervolt your processor.

Remove the battery- when you're plugged in, and the batt is fully charged.

If you're not going to use the laptop for a long time, drain (or charge) the battery until it's around 30-40%, then wrap it in a towel, and put it in a ziplock bag, and store it in the refrigerator.

If you're playing a game, doing video editing, rendering anything, or otherwise stressing your laptop more than running a few browser windows, remove the battery.

    Keep the laptop cool.

If your using the battery a lot, or if you just leave it in all of the time, its a good idea to drain it all the way at least once a month. I do this by booting the computer into the BIOS with the HDD disconnected. Then I just leave it overnight.

I know both of these are bad, but which one is worse: when not using the battery,

    Keep it at 100% charged.
    or
    Keep it at 0%.
    ?

then you will just have to leave the battery in, when the battery is not good anymore buy a new one. Sorry but that's all I can think of.
