Anyone know how to unlock the multiplier? When using Throttlestop i cant seemt o change any settings. Any other programs i need to use?
The temperatures under load seem to never hit 60c, and compared to what i've read about the mobile quad i7 (720qm/740qm) temps seem to be 70-80c on load. This 620m cpu really needs to be overclocked.

only extreme models can unlock multipliers. You need to use setFSB to change the frontside bus. Go to my sig and it'll give you all the links you need

As Dcmaker stated, you need an extreme CPU to take advantage of overclock features of Throttlestop. Great temp of the i7-620m! what laptop model is it? I never thought an i core CPU could remain that cool under load, from what I have seen almost all of them tend to run very hot.

Well did some proper stress testing, so i was gettign 70c peak using prime95, the 620m is in a m15x.
Thanks for link, came across setFSB before but i thought there was maybe some other apps/tweaks out there.
Unsure if i should start using it now, however whilst gaming cpu peaks around 60c so deserves a mild OC.

I don't thing setfsb will even work with it, and the 620m is already a very very fast cpu, I don't think you really need to overclock it. What are you doing with it that you need to overclock?

also look into the copper mod that'll give you another way to lower temps and overclock more.

any updates on this? It seems like if people can provide the given info setFSB will support the 620m

When you want to use setFSB it not only depends on your CPU but also on your motherboard. Check out the website of the setFSB programmer to see whether your mobo is supported.
