My laptop's fan recently stopped working and I opened it yesterday attempting to install a replacement along with replacing the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU. I managed to remove all of the casing successfully however the single small screw holding the motherboard into the case has a stripped head and does not move.

I have tried a couple of different sizes of screwdriver in there as well as the rubber band trick but neither appear to have worked. Does anyone have any experience of this and how to resolve it? The screw head isn't completely rounded yet but since the screw is going straight through the board I wanted to try to be careful with it really.

    Thanks.

I managed to fix this problem myself by using a different screwdriver, definitely pays to buy quality tools I suppose.
