How to remove the notebook HDD's adapter tht sits over the pins?
    Hi
My laptop hdd is not booting up and I wanted to recover data by connecting it to my desktop. But I could not find the pins in the HDD to connect through the IDE cable. Then I come across the thread, http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=201970

Could someone help me to remove the small adaptor that sits over the pins to turn them into contacts. I could not figure out how to remove it so that it can be connected to the IDe.
    Thanks!

The adapter (which should be black and thin) can be removed by gently prying on one side and then the other. Since it is an IDE hard drive, the pin area is a lot more prone to damage than a SATA drive so bending a pin is extremely easy to do. Just take your time, and slowly work the adapter off.

As far as getting data off your IDE notebook drive, is the following what you are thinking?

Thank you for the quick response.
I bought exactly the same Laptop IDE HDD adapter from Cables To Go. But then I noticed my disk does not have 40pin instead it has 25+ pins.

And I could not remove the adapter (the blank and thin one) that sits over the pin because I could not see anyway to push the adapter from the left side.

Is this type of disk needs special attention? I am not sure but read it on somewhere - is it called interposer card? What kind of interface I need to connect it to my desktop? Please help.

    Thanks!

While all of the photos seem out of focus, it does appear to be more like SATA.
