I have some problems with my power adapter but the reason is the cable and not the power adapter itself.
I refer to the cable from the adapter to the lappy.
I've another identical cable so I prefer to replace directly the damaged one without going to try a repair.
Any suggestions on how I can go to replace this part ?

Can you kindly post a picture of the cable so we could get an idea. Thanks

Mainly there are a few things you should know, and a few things to decide on plan of action:
-Opening up the adapter is pretty difficult. They aren't screwed together. You have to pry open the casing and break the glue.
-To replace the entire cable, you will have to solder it to the actual circuit board, this could be pretty easy or extremely difficult depending on how big the the solder holes are and how close they are to other components.
-The easiest thing you can do is avoid all of the above issues by soldering or even just splicing your new cable to the existing cable. You can cut it pretty short close to the adapter. The only danger in this is that it will not totally solve your problem.
Thats pretty much what you need to know, everything else is basic electronics repair knowledge, i cant tell you how to solder.
There are 3 wires in HP adapters, you need to insulate the solder points etc.
good luck!
