    Hi,

I have 2 harddrives I regularly sync with my pc. At any time one of these harddrives are kept in a safe at a different location. But how is it best stored? Im thinking: How to shield it from EMI and/or magnetic influences?

Any solutions out there to do that job? Some bag or casing or something? What do you do? I really dont want to store 100 DVD's instead :)

Wrap it with aluminum foil, then in any plastic bags. Or if you can find some plastic static bags that come with many drives.

    cheers ...

So like a faraday cage? I get a new MB in a couple of days - Its probably in that kind of bag...hmm yes it would probably take care of EMI.

Any ideas as to how long data can survive on a harddrive that just lies in a safe?

Also, I'd recommend to not put it too close to other objects, ie leave some space around it so heat dispenses more easily.

    Don't block the vents either.
