Ok i have a compaq v5000 here thats a freinds that i just did an upgrade and reformatted. Anyways the computer gets the blue screen of death when i use both 1gb sticks of ram in it. If i remove them and put a single 2gb stick of ram this problem dosent happen. My question is how can i figure out which stick is bad. Also is the windows memory test any good i did it and it came back with no problems but then again i did the quick test. Thanks for helping me

Do what I♥RAM said but the fact both test fine and individually function fine? Well indicates it might be a MoBo problem? Just thoughts?

This is where you can get the program from:
    http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
Make sure to run the program for a few hours, or maybe overnight, so that the software can check all of the memory cells.

Ok i got memtest86 and ran it on the laptop. Although it hasent been going for very long it says " Errors 10240 " and at the bottom ever thing is in red and all tests come back 0 under the pass section. Is this mean the memorys bad?

If you can test each stick individually. If one runs without errors, while the other has errors, then the one with errors is the bad stick.
