I just got my Asus G71GX RX05 from Best Buy and I was wondering what tests I should do to see if there's any problems with the laptop. I keep seeing and hearing about furmark and 3dmark06 and stuff like that , should I run those? What would be some ways I can stress test the laptop in a day or so?

I don't think you need to stress test it, your warrenty doens't expire tommorow so you have plenty of time.

Just make sure you have all the parts and that everything works.

Nah, I wouldn't stress test it. But you could run HDTune, Memtest, and so on. But if something else is really messed up, you'll probably notice in normal use.

    Cheers... :)

The programs you listed are benchmarking programs - FutureMark and 3DMark06. I personally like to stress test my notebook as soon as you get it so that I know the standard values for my notebook, so if I do any tweaking, I can compare how much of a difference what I did made.

I use RealTemp for temperatures since I find it's the most accurate program and Orthos to stress test. Check out the undervolting thread for a step by step guide, and while you're at it, you can undervolt too! Memtest is used to test memory, HDTune can benchmark the HDD, and ATITool (doesn't need to be an ATI card!) to test the GPU (plus overclocking if you are into it, but I wouldn't if you don't know what you are doing unless you find a good step by step guide).
