Hi, I just purchased a external hard drive and there is an on/off switch on the enclosure. Should I just turn off the switch when I shut down the hard drive or should I use the safely reject hardware on the lower right corner? Thanks.

Safely eject is and then turn the disk off. Or shut down the computer and then turn off the disk.

Hmm. When I tried to safely eject, it tells me it can not be stopped. I don't even have any program or files running from that hard drive. If I have the turn off my computer in order to shut down the hard drive, then what's the point of the on/off switch? confused

No i meant that like after you shut down the computer you can turn it off. Really you can turn it off anytime. Just be careful that all the disk activity is done. That safely eject doesnt work is strange. It should work.
