Hi everyone, this is my first post and as I use to do, I first do the question, then tell the hole story.

    == The Problem ==

    A) I have a HP G60-243CL as the title sais.

It came with Windows Vista Home Premium, wich is very nice as it has the aero theme full running. But eventually it became to run slower and slower and finally It began to show problems at stating windows. When booting it launched the recovery manager tool, or something like that... So i get tired of vista and the 10gb partition that HP stole from me (for the recovery partition included) and decided to format que hdd.

Did so and installed Windows xp on a 15gb partition and left 15gb partition for linux and 270gb partition for data.

The problem became with drivers, wich while writting this, did not find them but I'm downloading some to try out. If I get it to work, I will make a .rar file and share it here.

    B) With XP installed, the first feeling I had was that everything runs faster than ever, so i hardly recommend doing so.

    C) The mother this notebook has its a Wistron 303C, I was thinking that maybe I can upgrade the CPU (an AMD Turion X2 @ 2,1ghz) for a faster one and the 3gb of ram for a total of 4gb. But could not find anywhere what cpu's the mother supports! If anyone can help me in here, I'll be very glad!

    D) The GPU integrated its a Gforce 8200M with "up to 1407mb memory" as HP sais, so I was wondering, is there a way of connecting an external video card? (better than the 8200 of course) I mean, like a pcmcia pcie card?
What about overclocking the 8200M? Is that possible? The performance gain its worth the risk?
    EVEREST sais:
    [ Slots del sistema / PCMCIA Slot CBUS1 ]

    Propiedades de slot del sistema:
Identificación del slot PCMCIA Slot CBUS1
    Tipo PC Card (PCMCIA)
    Uso Vacío
Ancho de bus de datos 32-bit
    Longitud Largo

As you can see, its not all questions, I try to make a thread to find out everything you need to know about this notebook and hopefully help anybody. As I get feedback on my post, I will edit to update it.
For now I need help with the drivers, motherboard and the GPU.

    Thanks,
    Kn0x.-

    sp38874.exe
    sp33742.exe
    sp35445.exe
    sp39535.exe

    All these doesn't work

I got the Video, Sound, Wifi, LightScribe (cant test it) and HDMI (cant test it) work!! When I find out wich of the 360mb of drivers that i tested worked, I'll post them here.

I have trouble making these work (as shown in devices manager):

    - bus SM controller
    - Ethernet controller
    - Coprocessor (never heard of it :s)
    - High Definition Audio bus modem device

PS: You may noticed that my english is very weird, that's because I'm from Argentina (South America) and speak Spanish! SO do please understand that I've translated myself most of the devices names (No translator used)

Njoy thank you SO much for the help, this is how I got this far:

1- (SMbus): Im not sure this mother has an nvidia chipset, if it does, i should look harder in the verest report so I can download the best driver from nvida.com . If you have a guess, shoot it so I can check it please

2- (Wifi? Ethernet?): What you mean by "this IS your wifi"? The wifi seems to work just fine (after intalled some driver wich I will post here once I recall what was it). The Ethernet card in the other hand doesn't. I tried it so hard to get it work since i need to pass my data from a desktop pc to this one and I think I cant make a wireless lan get to work (I belive the desktop has a crippled windows xp version)

3- (Coprossesor): Again, will try harder the everest report and google a little harder.

4- (High Definition Audio bus modem device): Tried that link, it doesn't work, it sais something like "couldnt find the device for that controller"

    Thanks again, i'll keep working!
    Hope you think something else!

    Kn0x.-

I'll try that one right now. And yes, the all de "spxxxxxxx.exe" extracts files to c:\swsetup

Are you thinking in making a "force" install by asking windows to look in that folder? I'll try that too right now and post back in a few minutes.

    Edit: added
= The Nvidia downloads are dead right now, I'll have to try later. Meanwhile, I'll try forcing intall

= The link was wrong, wonder where you got it? http://www.nvidia.es/object/nforce_winxp_15.25_es.html this is the closest to that driver I can get, but still can't download it, the download button doesn't show even after checking the agreement. Im so close and even so far...

    Exactly

That is strange, coz that's the correct driver for your system.

Anyways, keep me updated on your progress ;)

Fear not my good fellow, I have some brand new good news!

I haven't got much time now to give many details, but shortly, the driver worked great! I could make the network by ethernet work perfect between my laptop and my desktop pc, now I have 2 yellow warnings in the device manager, but I will talk about better tomorrow.

Finally Im close to upload all the drivers needed so if anyone needs them can find them quickly.

    Thank you SO much Njoy!!

About the download button in the nvidia web site, i belive it could be a flash, or shockwave lack of plugin in my browser, or maybe a virus before re-formating or MAYBE, my ISP block them (everything could be here in Argentina hehehe)

    See you tomorrow!

I have the same problem, everything is work, but not the sound. How did you solve that?

to solve wifi i download the antheros driver in hp site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&dlc=en&cc=uk&lang=en&os=2093&product=3860190

after that i am installed the nforce chipset drive that solve the ethernet, sm bus controller and co-processor problem: http://www.nvidia.es/object/nforce_winxp_15.25_es.html

but i have no sound and the driver manager says no problem in sound driver (legacy sound device) but in "other device" show a pci device whit no driver detect.

    please help :D
