    Hey guys, my friends laptop (hp dv2000) hard drive just died, and i wanted to know if i can just stick in any sata 2.5 hdd for it or does it have to be specially fit for it, since theres drives on ebay that say for this brand of laptop etc. im use to just by anyone and it will fit but maybe since the last time i updated a laptop drive things changed, i just dont want him to buy one and then ill look like an idiot in front of him thanks in advance

    Sata 1.5Gb/sec (Also called SATA150, SATA1.5, or just SATA) 2.5" drives are what you need.

    I seriously would avoid eBay (too many scams now). Check out www.newegg.com for the best prices.

    live in canada buddy so newegg doesnt work for us, i use to get my stuff from newegg when my sister lived in the states, i love newegg!

    I have to second night's comment about newegg - and I'm surprised about no shipments to Canada? I live in Germany and order from them all of the time - although an APO addy in Germany is considered a US address. I have ordered a Dell D600 and some computer parts from eBay with zero problems. The Dell was exactly as advertised and I think it was a good deal for $500. That said, I won't buy from any sellers with less than 50 sales and a reputation less than 98%.

    i bought a sz450 from a guy on ebay that has almost 500 feedbacks (100% ;) all selling laptops and everyone thanks him big time, i should get mine on monday!
