I currently have an Hp Dv5z and im looking to upgrade the processor (AMD Turion X2 Dual Core RM-72, 2.1 Ghz). I just dont know which processors are compatible with my motherboard.

I decided that i need an upgrade after i began lagging while playing Runescape or even counter-strike AFTER i had closed all unnecessary programs and applications. My processor often get maxed out at 100% and stays there.

I have 4 gigs of RAM so i know that it isn't the issue and the games i play don't require a nice video card so i know that's not the issue either.

Ill take any help i can get, thanks!

Any of the Turion RM and ZM series processors should work although I dont think its going to help much considering the fastest you can get is the ZM86/87 at 2.4GHz with 2MB L2 cache.

Okay thanks. The main thing i was wondering, which i forgot to include it in the original post, is if i have to get a processor from the Turion line or if other AMD processors were compatible with my machine

The athlon QL series (as you know) will also work with the dv5z. As for the mobile semprons the dv5z was never sold with semprons therefore the Bios probably cannot recognize them.

Also you cannot use any phenom processors if that is what you were thinking ;)

Thanks a lot, I looked at thew ql series and none of them were powerful enough for what I am looking for(2.2Ghz is the max). I tried to find a place to buy the Turion X2 Ultra but they aren't available from the manufacturer yet? Hmm what to do....

Ebay is your best bet for finding turion mobile processors, as it seems most e-tailers don't stock them.
