I have a HP Pavilion dv6 with Windows 7, Ultimate Ed. There are 4 ports but just recently 2 of them stopped working. When I attach a usb device, the device will light up like there is a connection, but the notebook doesn't recognize anything as being there so nothing can be done with the device. 2 ports are working fine, but 2 on the right side that are not working.

When I go to the Device Manager only 2 "USB Root Hub" lines are showing..... should there be 4 since I have 4 usb ports? How would I get the other 2 working?

Would appreciate any help I can get as I like to use all 4 of the ports.

    Thanks.

    shahjee0313,
Reset your BIOS/UEFI settings to defaults and check again. If nothing changes, try to boot your HP from a (bootable) USB flash drive connected to one of ports in question, with corresponding boot sequence settings in BIOS/UEFI, whatever you have. If it doesn't boot, it might be hardware problem.
