Few times I've used a couple flat-headed screwdrivers. With some luck it may catch on whatever groove there is left and let you unscrew the screw. Once I spent at least an hour watching youtube while grinding a new groov.

When you unscrew it, apply a lot of downwards force. If at any point you feel it is going to slip, stop. You'll probably destroy at least one screwdriver while doing that but that's the price.

When you're desperate enough after numerous fruitless efforts, you can dremel it and use wide flat, though that will affect aesthetics. Last time I faced stripped screws, it was the only solution that worked.

Yeah, flat head screwdrivers work great on chewed-up cross head screws.

Just see if you can cut a couple of notches for the screwdriver to get a grip.

I bought a set of screw extractors years ago, I dont think i have used them yet.
