What class of RAM does Hynix sit in? High quality, budget or is it still classed as generic? I mean Hynix seems to be one of the largest produced moduels in the world so how does it rate these days against say something like Corsair or Crucial?

I have had computers with Hynix in them before. They were fine, but that doesn't mean much as for benchmarking. The computers ran for years with no trouble, if that what you are asking about.

I don't really get what the big deal concerning notebook memory--as long as it's guaranteed. It's not like Desktop RAM which is often overclocked. I have also had no problems with Hynix, or any other brand of memory for that matter. I am currently using a mix of hynix and Buffalo. I think that people like to say they have a "brand name" of memory.

Before I upgraded the RAM of my notebook, I had Hynix 256MB brand memory, I had no problem with it for like 1 1/2 years.

hynix makes the ram for some of the name brands. Like mushkin or kingston I dont remember which one.
It is widely used.
But the best ram for overclocking is usually made by hitachi or samsung. Those will be the special ram with the green case and the flashing lights.
Hynix is more the mass produced brand. So it is the widely used not performance brand basically....
hynix might be the largest producer of notebook ram. -

Yes you are right about Hynix being one of the largest. I beleive that Hynix modules are manufactued by Hyndai.
Hynix brand memory. Does it still carry the dreaded 'Generic' label?
