Yes go ebay to save money. If you're in rush and need to fix your laptop asap go for the 'buy it now' option, or buy from ebay shops.

you could turn this laptop into a desktop by removing the broken LCD panel and all its pastics, and then connecting it to an external monitor.

i have the conection on the back for a monitor but when i plug into this and boot the laptop it shows the windows loading logo but then just uses the shattered screen (looks pretty, like a rainbow)

by removing the broken one, will it use the plugged in monitor or try to use a screen thats not there??

You can do that with keyboard shortcuts.

On Dell's it is Fn + F8, on yours it could be different. Just keep hitting it until only the external monitor displays. It takes a few seconds to change it.
