160GB to my external drive. ESATA and it just times out or craps out. Using Active Imaging software. Also does same thing with Easus software. Guess I will try Acronis (bloated, but usually works after wading thru the myriad of crappy features).

Does anyone else have this issue? I never had it before. But then again, I just got this particular drive, which, except for this, I like alot.

Acronis True Image and norton ghost 15 are the best tools right now IMO.

I use ghost 15 and have no issue backing up the whole drive.

Just give them a try and see how it goes.

Is that a single partition setup ? If so, why not just use Windows 7's builtin one ?

^^ yep. Why don't you use Win7's backup software? i am using the same drive (160GB G3) and I got a backup to an e-sata device in a few mins.

Well, for various reasons I like Active DIsk. BUt I am able to do it to a different drive. Works fine. So, I am not backing up and then will format the problem drive and see what happens.

I put it in a Antec external case, and I THINK that is when it stopped working. If so, I must return it to Staples ASAP!
