I don't know if it's just me, or my computer is sounding a little different lately. I can hear the fan spinning, as oppose to the usual *wooosh*. Also, the hard drive sounds a little different too. It's not clicking or anything. It just sounds slightly off. Maybe it's just me. Should I back it up?

What kind of laptop is it?

Have you checked to see if your temperatures are higher than normal?

When was the last time you cleaned the fan/vent area?

If you value your data, you should always back it up.

Check your CoolSense settings. Perhaps something was changed there that's making your fan spin faster.

It's probably the bearing on the fan has gone bad. but first you can check BIOS to see if the temperature is higher that it used to be sure.

If it's the bearing it should be making more of a ticking or (in extremes) grinding noise, you may have to put your ear close to the vent to hear it. If the fan is just louder than normal, I would look at temps.
