I've spent the last three weeks trying to find a laptop / notebook that doesn't have a glassy, reflective display. I need to run Cinema 4D and other 3D programs so I need a good graphics card like nvidia 8600 GT 512mb. The only company that offers a matt display option is Apple but it's a bit over my budget.
I've been incredibly thorough, tried every manufacturer including custom built companies like alienware, etc... Not one of these offers a matt screen option !?
It's unbelievable that this is not a current option anywhere. I personally don't like these current shinny crystalbrite, colorshine, Truelife, etc displays. I find them to reflective and bias to images. What is going on ! Very frustrating. aarrrgg !

Lenovo's ThinkPad R and T series all come with matte screens. Both the R61 and T61 line have some excellent features, and with coupon codes, can be found for great prices. If you need a high-end graphics card, look at the 15" ThinkPad T61p, the p series is their mobile workstation line.

Dell's Precision Workstation M4300 and M6300 systems also uses matte screens, and are worth a look. I think you're just looking in the wrong places, perhaps at entertainment-style laptops. Business-class performance laptops and mobile workstations all come with matte screens to prevent glare.
