    Hi all,

I would like to upgrade my Sony Vaio FS 640/W, from 512 MB PC2700, DDR, 333MHz (Infineon) to 1 Gighz PC3200, DDR 400MHz (Kingston).

    My questions is:

    1. Is new Memory(Kingston) compatible with the Vaio(FS 640/w) I had?
    2. Should I stick with the PC2700 333 Mhz ?
    3. How about brand compatibility?

P/s: I knew that the 400Mhz, will automatically downgrade itself to 333Mhz if I install it in the laptop, but my biggest worry is, is it compatible?
Besides, the price between the PC2700($20 more) than PC3200.
So, I would need some opinion about it, should I go for quality, or Cost?

    Please Help

    Thank you

    Voon

Yes it should work fine, and no brand doesn't matter really with compatibility.

As long as you stay with a reputable brand, (kingston, crucial, corsair...) just go with the least expensive. You should be good to go.

If you are going to use them together, the faster memory will be downclocked.
