That's a great ssd. I wanted to pick one up but i'm going to wait for a price drop. The 80 gb model just went from $280 to $220, so hopefully this will drop in the next month or so.

Can't go wrong with the G2. I'm thinking about picking up a 30gb vertex just to see what all the hype is about :D

I just received the 80GB version and went through all the set up... I have to say that I'm not finding it quite impressive, even though my boot up time went from 73 seconds on my 250GB 5400 RPM HDD Seagate to 27 seconds. I just have to say i'm not really noticing the speed as much as everyone else suggests. :|

Did you do a clean install? Also, what were your expectations? after all you almost cut your boot time by 2/3.

Ofc I did a clean install, in fact my first install something wrong happened with lenovo system update so i reinstalled windows.

Anyway, I do notice it's faster somewhat but that's me thinking about it. There isn't really something noticeable that makes me say wow! I guess that's just because of what I use it for. I stated in the the SSD thread that mozilla still takes a few seconds because of it's own addons that it has to run through. With games, I expect fast loads but it's unimportant as I have to wait for other players to load the map too. I don't know what I'm expecting as my initial HDD wasn't so unbearingly slow either, in fact it's quite comparable at least when it has it in it's cache.

i replied to your post in the ssd thread before. but just think about it: you have nearly 200% INCREASE in performance thanks to the ssd, based on the numbers you give. if that's nothing, then, well.. dunno how much other tech gives one 200% increases :) the car industry would love such tech to increase their efficiency. solar would love it, too :) etc.

enable ACHI or whatever in BIOS... that should speed up ur SSD a little... Also install the latest firmware from intel... that should help in increasing the speed... also install the intel rapid storage drivers...
