Hi guys
two asus and one fujitsu later I'm still having problems.
this time the fujitsu likes to make this really annoying high pitch whining/static sound when earphones/headphones are plugged in, its really distracting, it stops and starts seemingly at its own free will.
also when you type on the keyboard the vibrations go through this machine like butter, I heard vibrations are the main thing that kill hard drives.
why can't I win with these damn things?

Cause you didn't buy a Dell.
-
A lot of laptops have headphone jacks that produce whine. Solution is to buy a cheap USB sound card.
-
I've heard the vostro series are plagued with overheating issues.

Not mine! And people don't take apart their laptops and clean out dust. Also alot of users who place it flat on a surface, on their laps, and worst of all on their bed.
Also what audio chip do you have? Sigmatel are terribad. -
Thats because you didnt get a G series Asus.

I had a HORRIBLE wine/scratching noise when I had the "reltek" drivers installed, once I used the generic windows driver, the sounds went away...

Realtek chips aren't half bad. Try a Sigmatel, horrible.
I just can't win with these notebooks, question about static sounds through earphones/headphones
