Get it up to this?
Intel Quad Core Q9400 2.67 GHz
4 GB RAM
9800 GTX
I am computer illiterate so this may seem like a laughable request

This is a laptop/notebook forum. Desktop parts won't fit a notebook.
-
That's a netbook, innit ?
And the one I saw, comes with an Atom.
Q9400 + 9800 GTX....? Nawh..A QX9770 + HD4870x2 will be better. -

After you have removed the soldered Atom CPU off the mainboard (with a chisel?) you will then have the challenge of working out how to fit the Q9400 which will be wanting a socket.
So I wouldn't even try unless you have the engineering facilities to build a new mainboard and a much improved cooling system to stop the NB 100 from melting.

just checked out the qx, will that run in a nb?

Mr._Kubelwagen More machine now than man
Yeah, go for it, you should be fine. Just plug and play.
Okay, no. You bought a netbook, running an atom. There is no way you'd be able to fit a desktop processor, a full-sized gpu, and 4 gigs of ram. The gpu itself likely has a larger footprint than the laptop.
Besides, those parts would cost you more than you paid for the netbook. -
this cant be real....can it ?
-
heh ok, i've become a little less ignorant, done some research..can i upgrade my processor from the stock 1.6 to something like 2.4-3.0?
is this possible or should i make a whole new rig..
just got this thing as a present, i want it to satisfy my needs but i doubt it will -

The Atom CPU is soldered onto the board so it is not interchangeable.
You may be able to upgrade the RAM and the hard disk, perhaps to an SSD.

thanks for all your help
one more thing, the nb has lag in typing, streaming videos and opening websites..I can wait for the typing to come up, and the website to fully load but the videos will never work without a stammer..what can i do to fix this? -
John Ratsey Moderately inquisitive Super Moderator
Are you trying to do those things one at a time or all at the same time?
The CPU is only single core so it can't multi-task like the dual core CPUs that are now standard in most notebooks.

Go to Toshiba's website and reinstall the keyboard drivers. I know from experience with the Asus EEE, you sometimes have to reinstall the keyboard driver to make it perform properly.
also upgrading the cpu and graphcis is impossible.
