Hey, I'm looking to slap 2 gigs of ram into my laptop since I have the money now. I've been shopping on newegg.com and I came across a few things that are interesting.

For 170 bucks I can pick up this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231118

For a total of 160 bucks I could get a couple of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820208036

For about 170 dollars I can get a couple of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231091

I do plan to game on this so I really should buy better stuff like crucial, but I just don't and will not have the money, so I'm looking for my best buy on my budget (which is like 170 bucks). If anyone has any better suggestions I'd of course love to hear it. The memory speed doesn't bother me either as it never really ends up being a performance difference, so I don't even bother to look at that (just price). I am sort of under the assumption that any of this ram would end up being better than the gig of stock ram dell gave me.

given the choices, I'd go with GSkill. Wheter or not you want 533MHz and 4CAS or 677MHz and 5CAS, is up to you.

what is the 4CAS and 5CAS thing, I can't say I'm familiar with that. Does that have to do with the latency?

CAS= what is normally know as CAS Latency.
just look at the specs in the links he posted and you'll see where I got CAS from.

Nope, actually lower CAS is better. Something about time it takes to run a command or something...

Usually low CAS is paired with low RAM speed while higher CAS is paired with higher clock speeds. So the two kind of neutralize each other.

Which is why I said it was a personal preference to which Gskill RAM to purchase. Some prefer the Higher speed, while others prefer the Lower CAS.
