    If it helps your decision;
    any 34 card FITS into the 54 slot of your laptop and works. Its just that a gap will be left, If the gap doesn't matter, then a 34 should do you fine.

    I can't seem to locate a 54 size reader, maybe someone else will have better luck. ;)

    A friend showed me his CF card reader I am not sure but looked like a 34 card and it would not fit in my slot didn't go in all the way to let my laptop see it. It only went in half way.

    Maybe it was a PCMIA card it didn't have anything written on it but for CF Reader.

    An expresscard 34 should fit without a problem in an expresscard 54 slot! Just make sure you push it in correctly. Because it should fit no matter what, both 34 cards and 54cards (expresscards) in a 54mm expresscard slot.

    A PCMIA is also 54mm so it can't be anything else you tried than a 34mm expresscard, so it seem that you didn't push it in correctly.

    Maybe card goes in upside down? I brought a expresscard 34/54 card reader off ebay for $8. I should get that in a couple weeks. It is coming from Hong Kong I will play with that and see if I can get it working.

    Thanks for all the help.

    My friend called me back and told me his card was a PCMIA card. So the card I brought off ebay should work great then.

    I am still new to laptops and this will open up new options on this lowend notebook.
