    can anyone tell me whats the best and fastest cpu i can buy to work on my gateway p6831fx..??

    that would be X7900, your bios has limit of 3.0Ghz.

    It doesnt get a whole lot better than a T7700.

    If you just want to spend money, and not bother about the not-so-great performance increase, you could go for the top-spec Penryn XE X9000, which should OC to 3.0-3.2GHz.... :p

    ill remove the t7700 and sell it to a friend and since im going to buy a new one i want a good one :p

    T9300/T9500 will be a good upgrade.... (Whichever costs less)

    All of these CPUs are not only fast enough for virtually any purpose, but you won't even be able to tell the difference between a powerful processor and more-powerful processor. It is a pointless upgrade unless you are running the most demanding professional applications.

    yeah exactly.. you won't see much difference at all between a T7300 and a T7700 in the first place unless it was some benchmarks you were obsessed about
