ProStar AirBook D47u
The problem is it has no hard drive or caddy. I can get a hard drive cheap, but ive googled 100s of pages, ebay, and the company website for information on obtaining a hard drive caddy for this machine at a reasonable price. I'm not gonna pay $50 - $100 for a piece of metal and plastic. Does anyone know a good way to get a working hard drive caddy for this machine? Can some one point me to something. Thanks

Maybe try and make one? I don't know exactly how it looks but when u say "a piece of metal and plastic" it doesn't seem too advanced.

I found a few places on google for about $60 but they dont even have the part in stock. The model is D47u for my laptop. I don't know what to do. The caddy isnt even much of a concern, its this hard drive cable they use. I haven no idea where to find this... I have this beautiful laptop I'll never be able to use
Anyone know where to get this part?

Good news is I found this guys:
http://www.clevoweb.co.uk/Parts/43-D40U0-010.htm
The caddy and adapter. But thats $100!!!
Judging by the looks of the adapter. Is that any standard conversion? I know the one end is the 2" laptop ide but what is that other end? Is that something standard, if so I could get this a lot cheaper. Or is this some kinda proprietary plug... Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks -
I was in this situation with my laptop that i got from a friend of a friend, it go's that way... they take the hard drive and forget to leave that connector / adapter / ribbon cable thing (that has no official name BTW) so try ANY AND ALL
names you can think of in the searches. Thats the only way after a week of searching i found it on a french ebay page, also in my search i found that some other laptops used the same... connector / adapter / ribbon cable thing... that my laptop needed so when i finally found it... it was for a different model. There are 5 or 6 sites that sell these things but none of them had what i needed, ebay is sometimes the only place to look.

Well I think I found a few people in a bunch of weird places around the world that have the caddy, but I'm asking them on the side if they have that adapter too. I mean if they have the caddy, they gotta have the adapter. In that case I'll most likely be able to snag it for around $30 shipped hehe.
I need a hard drive caddy for a weird model
