Hi everyone I hope this is in the right section and if not I'm sorry.
Okay. So, I recently purchased a new laptop from Best Buy and it was a Gateway model with Windows 8, 15.6", 4GB RAM, 500GB Hard Drive. If you're not interested in stories, proceed to skip the next paragraph and read everything below the dotted line.
It's only been a couple days since it was shipped to my house. I was kind of in a bad mood because it was hot out, Itunes wasn't working right (of course), and the mouse on the laptop was being laggy at times (to top it off). I've heard that problem may have to do with the laptop having Intel HD graphics or something, and having to downgrade the drivers to fix it with the side effect of some games displaying error messages. I was in a rush because I was wasting so much time troubleshooting before I had to go to work. I thought, "I need a drink." Big mistake (who could blame me it's 90 degrees out!) I, hurriedly walking back to my laptop with the newly brewed iced tea, go to place it on the table near my laptop, when (NOOOOO) - some of the tea got on my keyboard. MY NEW DAMN KEYBOARD!!! Lol. Drama aside, it spilled on the number pad part all the way on the right. It wasn't too much, only a little bit got on it. So, I wipe it off with a paper towel (not knowing the severity of the situation, since I've never been in this kind before.. I know, surprising, huh?) and move along with my business, typing away and troubleshooting other problems. Next thing I know, I have to restart my laptop because I tried updating Itunes (didn't fix it lol but it was worth a shot) and then I went to log in. That's when I realized MY KEYBOARD WASN'T FULLY FUNCTIONING. THE HORROR OF IT ALL D: That's not good. No keyboard means no typing, no logging into the damn username account because I can't put in my password, and worst of all, I can't watch my cartoons. Haha just kidding. Or not.. You may be wondering how I'm typing this right now.. It's magic. Nah, I'm on my PC. Didn't mean to tell you my life's story everyone, but this is how it happened. Oh? You wan't to hear about that to? Well, it started off in Jersey when I was in a hospital, my mom having so much trouble they almost had to do a C-section and -- Okay, okay I'll stop. You didn't have to be so rude about it, though. :O

ACTUAL IMPORTANT STUFF STARTS HERE:
I NEED TO REPLACE MY LAPTOP KEYBOARD SPECIFICALLY FOR WINDOWS 8 GATEWAY LAPTOPS
Basically, I spilled a little bit of tea on my number pad on the right side of my gateway laptop. I wipe it off, continue use, and all of a sudden half my keys don't work and when they do, they get fired and survive off of welfare: okay it was just a joke. When they do, they type more than what I wanted. For ex. if i type "y" i get "hyu" instead of just "y." Not good. I knew something was up so I looked it up and it seems there's slim hope for salvaging my keyboard. With common sense, knowing that there must be water inside my laptop still, since problems are happening with the keyboard NOW instead of when it happened, I turned it off, took the battery out, and flipped it upside down, like pizza dough (not really, that would probably break it more). I placed it upside down near a fan so that any remaining water (or tea, to be specific) would dry or condensate out of it. Yeah, yeah, evaporate, I corrected myself. Now it's been all day and I'm waiting for it to dry out. Hopefully it will be better next time I try to use it (probably tomorrow afternoon, about 24 hours from the "incident") That sounded like an investigative report! I feel accomplished. Anyway. There's little chance it will be better if not, no chance it will fix itself by drying, so it's very likely I'll be needing a new keyboard if I'm going to be watching my favorite cartoons anytime soon. ANY SUGGESTIONS?! I CAN'T FIND ANY LAPTOP KEYBOARDS SPECIFICALLY FOR WINDOWS 8 GATEWAY LAPTOPS. The laptop dimensions are
Width: 15 inches
Depth: 10 inches
Weight: 5.5 pounds if that helps any. I'm not sure if I can provide a URL to the actual link of what I bought on this site. But on the page, it says :
"This Gateway NE56R49U laptop features a 15.6" high-definition display and Intel® HD graphics with 128MB dedicated video memory for stunning entertainment visuals. A Social Networks 2.0 key lets you quickly launch your favorite social Web sites."
That gives away the model. Please SOMEONE HELP ME FIND THE RIGHT KIND OF KEYBOARD!! But to be straight forward, it's designed for Windows 8 because the f1, f2, and so on buttons have symbols on them that refer to what they do differently than regular f1, f2 buttons etc. It has different buttons, like on the top right of the keyboard, it has smily faces on the top right most key. I'm not sure if that's enough explanation, but If you need a picture of the keyboard, just ask. It would be cool if the keyboard had keys that are lit in the dark, too, preferably. Since I'm replacing it, might as well get a better one rather than the one I had before. But this is optional, of course, if there's none of them. Thank you![]()

Take out your keyboard and find it's part number and go to eBay and search that part number for the right replacment keyboard and or talk to Acer support and order a new replacement keyboard or go to Amazon and check with your part number to find a matching keyboard. That is your best options at this point in time.

You may have to clean it as tea is sticky even after drying, use water or diluted alcohol to clean with cotton or soft cloth but make sure it's completely dry before putting back and use, if that doesn't work, get a new one from ebay or amazon as suggested by StormJumper.
