I purchased an ASUS U50A at BestBuy last weekend and I've been very happy with it except that I found out today that the CD/DVD burner doesn't appear to be able to burn any disks. It is a TSSTCorp TS-U633A.
I Googled the device and found that others have had issues with it, but I can not seem to find firmware to update it, or do whatever else I need to do to get this thing working. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would very much appreciate it. Please keep in mind I'm no computer expert, either, I have a pretty limited knowledge, so explanations of where to go and what to do would be super helpful.
I really need this drive to work, as I have to burn disks frequently. I am using this notebook for work and I work in a place where we can not use flash drives or external hard drives - things have to be burnt to disk.

Anyone?
ASUS Tech Support is telling me they have never had anyone report any issues with this drive, and that I have the option of either running the recovery disk (restoring everything back to factory, when I just spent all day yesterday setting the brand new system up) or sending it in for service, about 7 days plus shipping time.
HELP?
I am seriously considering just going back to BestBuy and getting my money back. I'm so disappointed. I read great reviews on here about ASUS but my experience so far has been anything but great. -

Have you tried different (better) disks?
If it really is a hardware problem, better to return it now.
I need help - drivers, to be exact
