    I have a recently new HP Laptop and my son took some keys off of the keyboard and today while trying to download my printer program I noticed the cd rom was making funny noices..when i took the cd out a missing piece from my keyboard was in there but the cd rom is sill making noices..I would like to know if it is safe for me to take the back off to see if there is still a piece stuck in there...Thank you very much for reading and responding.

    You should remove the optical drive and if you are technically inclined, open it up and remove anything obstructing it from normal use.

    Worst comes to worst, you may have to buy a new optical drive from HP.
