im trying to figure out if my computer has a c2d whine because i have a super high pitched noised, but no matter what i do (disabling intel dynamic acceleration technologoy, turning off dynamic switching), the computer wants to run at 1600mhz, not the 2.26ghz that the p8400 is rated at.

ive set my min/max to 100% but nothing works. i cant disable the c4 state or whatever because rmclock doesnt support my chipset, i cant even the the HT OS idle thing. also, the noise isnt there when windows is loading. can a hard drive produce a super high pitched noise?

kazaam, how many laptops have you been through already, must be 5.
Are you sure the whining is coming from the laptop, and not something in your room, like a refrigerator, speakers or something like that?

Have you tried listening to the power brick?
Sometimes the transformers inside can make a continuous humming sound.

this is the third. yeah, positive its not a refrigerator or speakers or the tv. its not the power brick on the floor either. its not even continuous. sometimes its there, sometimes it is not, and it seems like moving the laptop to a softer surface alleviates it, but the problem isnt there during loading windows or anything.

typically i wouldnt complain, but when a noise is annoying enough to make me not want to sit by my laptop, something is wrong. how can this be right? otherwise, i love this laptop.
