Hi all,
I got an old Viao FS630 with a bad headphone jack. Initially, on the headphone got problem, however, putting presure on the plug at a certain angle, there will be sound. Later on, the problem started to get worse to the main speaker - there will be no sound coming out at all from the main laptop's speaker unless I use the tip of my finger to press on the headphone jack. There're three possible ways to deal with the problem that I can think of:
1. The headphone jack from Sony is used wisely in other model, I can Ebay one and unsolder the working jack and put it in my laptop. However, this is a very difficult process that may damage the main board. Searching yahoo, i have seen people did soldering on the main board with other part (power plug, USB jack... but not headphone jack).
2. I'm thinking about purchasing a PCMIA sound card to bypass the internal sound card. The problem is whether this will completely bypass the internal speaker?
3. Because the main speakers not producing sound unless there is pressure on the headphone jack, it seems that the problem is more because of the headphone jack is giving a signal that there is a headphone plugged in. Will removing the headphone jack from the board stop this? I then can add an external sound card as in step 2 ?
Sorry for my English.
Thank you
I need some advice on my old laptop
